For publishers
Last updated 2026-10-11.
Huduku is an independent, non-commercial media-literacy project. It shows readers a headline, the outlet that published it, its time and a link to the publisher’s own page, so they can see who is reporting what and read it where it was published. It carries no advertising.
What Huduku takes
- From your own feed or news sitemap: each item’s headline, link and time, and your outlet’s name.
- The category your feed files an item under, so Huduku labels a piece “Opinion” or “Fact check” only when you do.
- Huduku keeps a dated record of the headlines it showed, with the same four things, so that what readers were shown can be checked later. A takedown removes a headline from that record too.
What it never takes
- Article text, summaries, images, thumbnails, logos or bylines’ photos. A summary in your feed is read only to file the headline under a topic, and isn’t kept.
- Your pages themselves: Huduku doesn’t copy, frame or cache them, and doesn’t get round a paywall. Every link goes to your page.
- Anything your robots.txt doesn’t allow, or anything at all once you refuse its fetcher. How it fetches: How Huduku fetches.
Opting out, or removing one item
- Write one email to contact@huduku.org from an address at your publication’s domain. Name the outlet to opt out, or send the link of a single headline to have it removed.
- Huduku acts within 48 hours: it stops fetching and takes your headlines off every public page and out of its record, or removes the one headline. It writes back to say so, and notes the opt-out against your outlet, with its date.
- You can also disallow
HudukuBotin your robots.txt, which takes effect within a day. - Other grounds for removal, and their deadlines: Takedowns.
Permission
- Before an outlet is shown to everyone, Huduku reads its publisher’s terms. Where they allow personal use only, or forbid showing headlines elsewhere, Huduku asks the publisher for written permission. Some outlets are shown before that, on the decision of Huduku’s owner, recorded against each outlet with its date; their publishers can opt out as above. Outlets shown before October 2026 are being reviewed the same way.
- To give permission, write to contact@huduku.org saying which outlets and feeds it covers and any conditions. Huduku keeps your letter and records it against each outlet.
- To withhold or withdraw it, say so in the same way, or opt out as above. Huduku acts within 48 hours.
Corrections
Huduku shows each headline as you wrote it, and shows a new wording after its next read of your feed. If something about your outlet on Huduku is wrong, such as a fact on its profile, write to contact@huduku.org.
